The route of Amgen Tour of California was revealed by the organisers of the race on Thursday, 19th February. The race will span 724 miles. Most of the course of the race is not unfamiliar but some new places are included in the course. The eight day race is scheduled to start this year in the Month of May.
The route of the women’s race was also revealed that day. The women’s race course will span 158 miles. The wome’s race will be a three day race. On the Big Bear lake on 15th May, a time trial race will be held. The time trial race course is going to be 15 miles long.
The Men’s racing will start on 10th May and continue up to 17th May. The first stage of the race will be 127 miles long one. The stage will start and end in the capital of California, Sacramento.
After that the riders will have to climb Mount Hamilton and Mount Baldy. There will also be a time trial which will be 15 miles long at the Big Bear Lake. The course of the time trial event at Big Bear Lake is going to be a flat one. The race will come to an end with a circuit race event which will be held at Los Angeles. The finishing point of that race is at Rose Bowl which is at Pasadena, California.
This year’s race will be the tenth edition of the Amgen Tour of California and the Executive director of the race, Kristin Bachochin Klein regards this year’s event to be a milestone. According to Klein this year’s race route is a very beautiful as well as an exciting one. Klein is also AEG Sports’s Vice President. Klein is confident that this year’s race is going to be a memorable one.
